Arflack case Capt. Gregory Arflack (1961-) Roman Catholic military chaplain with the 279th Base Support Battalion in Bamberg, Germany, forced himself sexually on soldiers, a 1st Infantry Division, accused of three counts of forcible sodomy, three counts of indecent acts, two counts of fraternization with enlisted soldiers, two counts of disobeying orders, one count of indecent assault, and one count of conduct unbecoming an officer, in connection with incidents that took place 21 March 2004, in Doha, Qatar, and 29-30 July 29 2005, in Bamberg. Military prosecutors preferred charges August 2005. After pleading guilty at his court-martial to three counts of forcible sodomy against enlisted men he was sentenced to dishonorable discharged from the Army in addition to the prison term to be served at Fort Leavenworth, Kan., 31 October 2005.
Baltazar affair Rev. Carmelo “Mel” Baltazar, who worked for the military, was accused of sexually abusing a boy for five years beginning in San Diego County the 1970s, lawsuit names the Diocese of San Diego as a defendant, and the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, Sacramento, Santa Rosa, Reno, Nev., and Boise, Idaho. filed May 2003. Baltazar's whereabouts was unknown, and church officials could not say where he was, as he was not listed as currently working in the US.
Beaver affair Rev. Reinard Beaver became a military chaplain at Fort Lewis, WA, in 1960 and worked there until 1986, when he retired as a lieutenant colonel from the US Army. Beaver was removed from public ministry in 1988 after complaints about him abusing 4 boys, one aged 12, surfaced.
- JI accusation Anonymous man (1954-) claims two priests sexually abused him while he was an altar boy at Fort Lewis has sued two priests, the Archdiocese for the Military Services and the Archbishop of Seattle.
- Beaver lawsuit Filed in Pierce County Superior Court, one man accused the Rev. Reinard Beaver of abusing him around 1986 and 1987, when the priest served as a military chaplain at Fort Lewis. The suit also names the Archdiocese for the Military Services, U.S.A. Filed 25 July 2005.
Destefano case Rev. Neal Destefano, a navy chaplain, was convicted of sexual abuse 1994.
Drake case Rev. Carl E. Drake, Jr., a navy chaplain, was convicted of sexual abuse of boy 1993.
Hrdlicka case Rev. Robert Hrdlicka, accused of sexually abusing four Nebraska brothers in 1978, was convicted of lewd conduct involving boys while a military chaplain at a US Navy court marshal 1993, sentenced to 10 years in prison, released in 1999.
- Diocese of Lincoln lawsuit Diocese of Lincoln, Neb., says the brothers want $2 million.
Melody case Rev. Owen J. Melody, military chaplain, was convicted of abuse of 13 year-old girl, 1987.

Peltz affair Rev. Carl Anthony Peltz, navy chaplain, settled $25,000.
Ryan affair Rev. Barry E. Ryan (1948-) who served in parishes in Brooklyn and Queens, NY, in the 1970s and 1980s, became a military chaplain, was suspended from priestly duties in 1995, following accusations that he engaged in inappropriate sexual activities while working as an Air Force chaplain in Mobile, Ala.
- Maxwell base affair Rev. Barry E. Ryan, chaplain at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, was named in a local criminal probe in Mobile, AL, into sexual abuse was accused of sexually inappropriate behavior, mid-1990s. He was accused of molestation and documents were handed over by Archbishop Oscar H. Lipscomb to Mobile County District Attorney John M. Tyson Jr., April 2003.
- Long Island affair He pleaded guilty in October 2003 to charges that he sodomized a 6-year-old boy in a private home on Long Island, NY, while visiting in 2003. Ryan was originally charged with three crimes: two counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a child and one count of endangering the welfare of a child, pleaded guilty August 2004 to second-degree course of sexual conduct against a child. He failed to appear at a scheduled sentencing for the second time in Riverhead 15 December 2004, prompting prosecutors to threaten arrest if he does not show again. Because he is dying from liver cancer, prosecutors and the victim's family agreed on a sentence of only 2 years, possibly to be served outside of prison.
