Procurement Process of purchasing items required to run a business.

  1. Direct goods Components used directly in the manufacturing process, often required on a steady high volume basis.
  2. Indirect goods Components not used directly in the manufacturing process, like office materials.
  3. Spot goods Buyers fill last minute orders or seek bargains from sellers unloading excess inventory, all told usually only 5% of procurement.

Procurement managers People within corporations who purchase the myriad of items required for the business.

  1. RFQs Request for quotes.
    1. Multi-attribute RFQs Quotations that emphasize the strengths of products and delivery of goods, the buyer selecting winning bidder on a combination of price, quality, delivery, etc.
