Table of verb tenses
Indicative
- Present: Hablo. (I speak.)
- Preterite: Comí. (I ate.)
- Imperfect: Escribía. (I was writing.)
- Future: Habrá tiempo. (There will be time.)
- Conditional: Contaría mi dinero. (I would count my money.)
- Progressive (The progressive can be used in all tenses. For the present purpose only the present progressive is shown.): Estoy leyendo. (I am reading.)
- Present perfect: He visto. (I have seen.)
- Pluperfect: Había abierto. (I had opened.)
- Preterite perfect: Apenas hube salido... (Scarcely had I left...)
- Future perfect: Habré terminado. (I will have finished.)
- Conditional perfect: Me lo habría puesto. (I would have put it on.)
Subjunctive
- Present: Es necesario que venga. (It is necessary that you come.)
- Imperfect: ¡Ojalá que supiera! (I hope he found out!)
- Future (The future subjunctive has all but disappeared from daily use in Spanish and is not treated in this reference work.) Sea lo que fuere. (Be that as it may.)
- Present perfect subjunctive: Siento que no haya estado bien. (I am sorry you haven't been feeling well.)
- Pluperfect subjunctive: Si hubiera sabido, habría despedido al empleado. (If I had known, I would have fired the employee.)
