Internships

Ultralingua invests in people. Set yourself apart.

About the Ultralingua Internship Program:

Interns at Ultralingua explore a variety of challenges with the team, and are encouraged to explore the ways their work impacts the work we do as a team. Ultralingua internships contain a professional-development component that all interns participate in. Activities include resume and cover letter coaching, informational interviews and career exploration, and completing learning objectives.

Interning with us means taking ownership of your projects, having a voice in our decisions and processes, and learning by doing rather than observing. To be successful here you have to thrive on a challenge, be eager to show us what you can do, and be dedicated to your own professional development.

Ultralingua internships require a commitment of 10-15 hours per week at our Minneapolis office. We offer a variety of positions in marketing, design, and linguistics, and we encourage our interns to complete several sessions in different positions while they are with us. Co-Op Positions

About our Co-Op Program

Co-op positions at Ultralingua are an opportunity to work as a full-time member of our software development team before graduation. As a co-op developer you will create infra-structure, product prototypes, and contribute to our consumer products and APIs. You will gain experience participating in app and game design, development, quality assurance testing, and customer support.

As a co-op developer, you would work in our Minneapolis office full-time for an academic session in the summer, fall, or spring. Our two-tiered co-op program allows students to experience increasing levels of responsibility and progressively challenging projects over a several-year period on the Ultralingua team.

Your primary focus during your session is to work on and complete a specific project. This means you’ll be involved in some or all of these areas of software development:

  • Helping to create the initial specs by talking with other Ultralingua people
  • Designing the software
  • Designing the UI
  • Coding the software
  • Helping to create art assets
  • Creating and running unit tests
  • Creating documentation for internal and external use
  • Going through code reviews
  • Designing game mechanics
  • Demonstrating the latest builds
  • Researching new product or game ideas including new UIs, tools, etc.
  • Learning to use bug tracking and version control software (FogBugz and Kiln)
